A water-borne, UV-curable, polycarbonate-based polyurethane dispersion.

Suggested Uses: Hauthane L-3685 is designed for UV-cured plastic topcoat applications where exterior weathering durability, abrasion-resistant and chemical-resistant films are required. Potential end-use applications include automotive plastics, kitchen cabinets and wood flooring.

Application

N/A L-3685 may be applied by spray or gravure methods. Films must be dried completely before UV energy cure. UV irradiation is required to attain optimal film properties, but un-cured coating films are durable enough for handling prior to curing.

Curing

N/A L-3685 must be air-dried, or oven dried (temperature: 150 – 170° F; dwell time: 10 minutes) to remove water from the film prior to UV exposure. A photo-initiator must be incorporated into the coating formulation for effective curing. See starting point formulations for suggestions. Exposure guidelines: MPMA lamp - 300 watts/in2, 2.0 – 3.0 second dwell time.
